Week 4:1 Word Study and Fluency Chart


What texts and materials do teachers have in their classrooms that support students' development of fluent reading?
      The text and material that are provided to the teachers to develop fluent reading is a common core text book which has a host of short stories.


How do they select vocabulary to teach in all areas of your curriculum?
      When selecting the vocabulary for the curriculum, the teacher utilizes words that are featured in the passages as well as the school has a number of word in which students should reference. These words are also used for the school wide spelling bee.

How much time do they allocate to word study?
      Each day, students dedicate 30 minutes to word study and they are also encourage each morning to utilize the words in their do now.

What word study routines do they teach and encourage their students to use?
     Word study routines that are implemented throughout the day include the use of flash cards and the practicing of using words in the sentence.

How do they differentiate instruction and tasks based on their students' needs?
      By incorporating small group learning, teachers are able to focus on students' needs in a smaller section and provide vital instruction and updates.
